Struggles

2011 was full of ups and downs, triumps and failures ... and a lot of blessings. Although we have struggled financially, the Lord has come through for us EVERY TIME.  We have not gone hungry, we are not on the streets, and we have clothes on our backs.  It can be hard to accept help from other people, especially when its more than once.
As a parent I feel that the hardest part for me is the feeling that I have lost  authority over my child.
What he eats depends mostly on what is given to us, what he wears is dictated by someone elses taste, and lots of other little things that all add up....  I realize that in many situations, I do not feel comfortable doing something or giving my son something, but since "Beggars can't be Choosers" somehow I feel impotent, like I can't say NO, or I think "Maybe next time, they will ask first".
I was a bit discouraged the other day, and even though I don't like sharing discouragement with others, I mentioned it to my sister. I couldn't really explain in words  how I was feeling, but she knew exactly what I was talking about. Now, I know that the only person making me feel that way was ME, and I was allowing the devil to use my feelings and situation to sow seeds of resentment and hurt ... But sometimes, it is nice to hear something you already know from somebody else (It always makes more sense).
She reminded me once again that God answers prayers. If I have a need, he fulfills it. She also reminded me that I AM THE MOM, and no matter what, I have the final say when it comes to Ivan (Of course daddy does too).
I know this post is a little out of the ordinary... Have you ever felt the same way ? Did you allow yourself to stay in the dumps ? What did you do to snap out of it ?
Here is a promise.

What to Get for New Baby ???

We have been blessed to be surrounded by people who love us.  Many of you have already given us presents for our new princess, and others have asked how they can help.

What do we need ...

Well as you know we are a cloth diapering family.  Cloth Diapering our baby will help us save a lot of money; there is however an initial start-up cost. On that note, we would be more than happy to receive any help offered to the cause :-)

To give you all an idea of what we would like and need, I have created a gift registry at Kelly´s Closet, one of my favorite online diaper stores.

If you would like to check out what we registered for (whether or not you plan on purchasing) here is the link:

Give the gift that keeps on giving:
 gift registry

I know from experience that friends and family ask you what you need and when you mention cloth diapers,,, it goes in one ear and out the other, so I am taking a huge leap here :-) I hope that if you are a cloth diapering family, that everyone will chip in for you too !!!

11 Things about Me
1. I look younger than I really am (In my opinion) so unless I get all dolled up I am pretty sure people wonder ¨Is that her kid or is she just the pregnant babysitter ?¨
2. I love color, I had a rainbow belt that I wore the last few years of high school, not because I was trying to be a gay rights activist, the first week I got a few questions, I wore it because I LOVED IT.
3. I also love black and dark tones... I like to consider myself a versatile person.
4. I feel comfortable wearing tie dye, flowing skirts, and my awesome beach hair (which takes me almost an hour to achieve) -or- a ball gown, business suit and stilettos... once again VERSATILE
5. I don´t consider myself an awesome chef, but I have to say that pretty much everything I make tastes awesome! my husband agrees :-) I think my forte is pasta, and cookies.
6. I have a flexible personality, but when it comes to my child(ren) I am realizing more and more that I am NOT... I have a certain way I want things to be done with them and when I see or hear someone else doing differently (especially w/o consulting me first) my blood boils :-) in a nice way of course.
7. I have been described as  ¨Silent but Deadly¨ ... I am not sure to agree or disagree.
8. Every time I go to Denny´s you can be sure that I will order Chicken Strips.
9. I hate hearing curse words !!!!!!! I admit, there are times when a few have crossed my mind and I really felt like spitting them out,,, and I am not saying that I have never said one,,, but please, is it necessary to use one in every sentence in a movie. Vocabulary people ... expand it !
10. I feel like a boxed in artist most of the time.  If I had the space, time and resources I would make everything I own, clothes, food, furniture and art :-) Don´t think this means that I don´t enjoy buying things other people have made.
11. I don´t like kids. I love mine, and a handful of others, but no, I don´t want to babysit yours :-)
*** Bonus for 2012 ***
12. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and having patience with others.

Shirley´s (Golden Dreemz) Questions for me
1.  If you won the lotto, what are the top three things you would use the money for?
- After giving my Tithe and putting a fraction of it into a savings account that would acquire some interest.  I would #1 BUY A HOUSE with a yard :-) #2 Open an online store and  #3 I would go crazy and splurge !!!!

2.  What was the best gift you gave this Christmas?
- This Christmas was very tight financially, nothing new, So everything we gave was handmade, I really enjoyed making each and every one.

3.  What was the last thing that made you laugh hard?
- I don´t remember what it was, but I was talking on the phone with my sister... we always have a good laugh about something.

4.  What is your favorite recipe or food?
- ICE CREAM, If I  could eat it every day, I would. seriously. The other day I thought that being an ice cream food critic would be a pretty cool job, but than I realized that I would have to eat all different flavors and weird combinations, so that wouldn´t work out.  I like to stick with vanilla, strawberry and cookies n cream :-) Oh my soul ... I could I can eat a whole container of Eddy´s Cookies-n-Cream .... I am drooling right now because I haven´t had any since June.... Why Spain? why don´t you have the one thing I love ????????????

5.  What do you do when you're stressed and need a moment?
- Since I am a SAHM (Stay at home Mom) if I am the only adult around, there aren´t many options... Usually I just go get some fresh air, or take an extra long shower or read.

6.  What are you working on for self-improvement in 2012?
- I am going to work an speaking my mind and not being such a push over (in the right situations of course, I am not talking about being rude and disrespectful to others). I have realized that I have certain bottled up feelings toward people, and it is because I do not always tell them how I feel about something.

7.  What happened in 2011 that you will definitely do again in 2012?
- I will enjoy God´s Creation more... Since college and working and having a baby, i don´t get out into nature much, but I love it.  It is such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the hustle and bustle of life.
- And I will take even more pictures ... I did better in 2011 than the previous year, but I can definitely improve.

8.  What won't you do again in 2012?
- I won´t worry about what is out of my control

9.  What is your favorite blog post of 2011 on your blog?
- I would have to choose My Long Labor and Delivery Story, I am glad I took the initiative to write down a very special memory.

10.  What is your favorite blog post of 2011 on someone else's blog?
- I honestly don´t have an answer to this question.  I have read so many amazing blog posts this past year.

11.   Do you believe we'll still be here by the end of 2012?  Or are the Mayans right?
- I believe that the world will be over when God decides. It can be any day now,,, So as much as I would love to be certain I will live to meet my great grandchildren, I know that It can be any moment, so I will take advantage of NOW !!!
